13、Earlier this year, China achieved a new milestone in space exploration. On Jan 3, Chang’e 4 became the first space probe in history to successfully land on the far side of the moon, People’s Daily reported.
From Earth, we can only see one side of the moon. The other side has been a mystery. Scientists have long wondered what lies on this side of the moon.
Chang’e 4 has sent back photos of the far side of the moon. It is also being used to carry out experiments, such as growing seeds in a low-gravity environment. The data collected from these experiments could be used to help us build a base on the moon in the future.
The success of the Chang’e 4 mission is a major achievement for China’s space program. It marks a new stage in China’s deep space exploration, said Wu Yanhua, deputy head of China National Space Administration.
China launched its lunar exploration program in 2004, naming it Chang’e. Chinese scientists set three goals – “orbiting , landing and sample returning” – referring to launching probes that could circle around the moon, touch down on its surface and bring lunar materials back to Earth.
Chang’e 4 has realized the second goal. The third will be achieved during the Chang’e 5 mission , which is set to take place before the end of this year, China Daily reported.
Following the success of the Chang’e missions, Chinese scientists are looking even farther into our solar system . China’s first Mars mission is expected to be carried out by 2020, Wu said.
In addition to the first-ever soft landing on the far side of the moon, the Chang’e 4 mission has achieved many other firsts. One of them is international cooperation and joint exploration. The experiments will provide valuable data for the scientists .

For example, sometimes I need to add a new friend on Wechat. But I haven’t met him or her yet in real life. So when I send them a friend's invitation, I explain who I am and how I got their contact info(联系方式).

There are many other things that you shouldn’t do on social media. Take a look and remember to do your best to be polite.
Don’t share your friends’Wechat contact info with strangers. Ask your friend first before sharing.
Don’t add someone new to your group chat without asking the other members. They might not want new people to join the group.

The owners are often blamed when pets put on a few pounds. But experts say that in many cases fat dogs and cats are `emotional eaters`(借食消愁). They also eat more than they need simply to deal with boredom or stress, research has found. That means, if they have gained weight, it could be because they have been through a traumatic(造成心灵创伤的)or an emotional event.
New studies have also suggested that putting an overweight cat or dog on a diet could make them unhappy. The study shows the obesity(肥胖)rate is as much as 25 percent in cats, and 45 percent in dogs.

Comfort eating in humans tends to involve high calorie foods which the individual chooses, including ice cream, and chocolate.

18、Leonardo da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452 in Italy. He is best known as an artist today. One of his famous paintings is called Mona Lisa. However, Leonardo had many other natural abilities. He was also a great inventor. Many of his inventions have become important in modern day life. Although Leonardo hated war, he invented many different machines used for wars. His most special invention was the machine gun, which was produced and used in war many years later.
By watching the way birds fly, Leonardo tried to find out the secret of flying. Among his sketches(素描) we can see several objects. We consider them as modern flying machines. Leonardo spent many hours thinking about how to make good use of time. He developed ideas for labor-saving machines like cutting machines.
Leonardo was a strange man. He didn't eat any meat, which was unusual in those times. He never published his ideas and scientific discoveries. He usually used mirror writing, which looks like writing in a mirror, starting from the right side of the page and moving to the left.
We have very little of his work today. Leonardo finished only a few of his paintings. He left many unfinished because he thought they were not perfect. No one in his life time knew how great Leonardo was. We now believe, however, that he was one of the cleverest men the world has ever known.

19、Teachers and fellow students ,
I’m greatly honored to give a speech here. I have chosen geography, history and physics as my target subjects. They are chosen because I love them more than other subjects. When I was a kid, my father told me many stories from Chinese history, which interested me so much. Physics experiments are also attractive to me, so I want to expand my interest in this subject.
In my opinion, the best way to prepare for the subjects is to be active in class by listening
carefully and taking notes. Most importantly, thinking independently and asking questions are also good ways to learn from our teachers.
I am sure that you all have your own experiences, and I hope you can also share them with us. I believe all of us will make great progress. Thank you. Li Hua
